The Rewards of Faithfulness
“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” Luke 16:10 (NLT)
To be faithful means to be strict or thorough in the performance of duty. It means being true to one’s word, promises, or vows. It is being reliable, trusted and believed. A faithful person is dependable, constant, steady, and enduring (dictionary.com).
Faithfulness is sticking with something, doing it over and over and over again, even when you don’t feel like it. You do it even when others ridicule you and say bad things about you. God is looking for a few faithful men and women. Are you faithful?
We all want to be successful in life and reach our goals and realize our dreams, but the Bible lets us know in this verse that if we are faithful in little things, we will be faithful in larger ones. If you want to be a success in life, be faithful. Being faithful is a key to success in life!
You may be constantly praying and asking God for the big things or about going to the next level on your job or whatever you may be doing right now. But God is waiting on you to be faithful where you are presently before He moves you up higher. Why should God give you more responsibilities when you are not handling what you have? Some of you may be wondering why you are not moving forward to the next level in your career. You may feel like you are stuck. Take an inventory of your life. Are you faithful where you are?
Why does God want us to be faithful before He promotes us? Faithfulness is a fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit represents the character of God. God wants to build good character in us. Being faithful builds good character. We can’t get very far in life without having good character. He wants us to be like Him. He wants to prepare us for the greater things He has in store for us. If He gives you more when you are not ready for it, it could cause problems in your life. If you can’t handle small things, you definitely can’t handle bigger ones. Start being faithful today, and see God move mightily in your life!
Prayer: Lord God, I thank You for honoring faithfulness. I pray that You will help me to be a faithful steward over what You have given me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Confession: I am faithful over a few things and the Lord will make me ruler over many things (Matthew 25:21 KJV).
